I went for new year’s day lunch with my wife’s family to a very classy trattoria just outside Florence off the road to Pontasieve. There some of the family had sea food. I settled for cinta senese, a wonderful medieval pork dish cooked in vin Santo.
A great start to the year. Most curious of all were the decorative cabbages in the courtyard.
